Rotary Club of Colombo Regency (RCCR) is a part of the Rotary International, District 3220, Sri Lanka.  Rotary International is one of the largest voluntary service organizations in the world today with a 108 year history.

With the first Rotary Club formed in 1905 in Chicago, USA, Rotary became the world’s first service organization, and has since then expanded to 1.2 million members in more than 34,000 Rotary clubs in 200 countries and geographical areas across the world.  Rotary clubs are nonpolitical, nonreligious, and are open to all cultures, races, and creeds, and has business, professional, and community leaders as fee paying members.

As signified by the motto ‘Service Above Self’, Rotary’s main objective is service – in the community, in the workplace, and throughout the world.

Rotary Club members, known as Rotarians, are volunteers who work locally, regionally, and internationally to provide humanitarian service, encourage high ethical standards in all vocations, and help build goodwill and peace in the world, collaborating with other Rotary Clubs, communities, private sector organizations, governments and non-government organization to address community needs.

Some of the humanitarian services provided by Rotary include – combating hunger, improving health and sanitation, eradicating polio, providing clean water, providing education and job training, promoting peace and conflict resolution, and instilling international understanding.

The Rotary Foundation is an integral part of Rotary International.  The Foundation is a not-for-profit corporation supported solely by voluntary contributions from Rotarians and their friends who share its vision of a better world, and helps Rotarians to build world understanding, goodwill, and peace through their service projects.

RCCR is a relatively young member of Rotary International.  The Club was chartered in May 2002, and consists of a group of 27 community minded young professionals from an array of skill disciplines including management, law, information technology, architecture, finance and banking, and pharmaceuticals.

RCCR actively participate in The Rotary Foundation annual giving program, and is a 100% PFH Sustaining Member Club.
